Discover Amsterdam from the "De Pijp"-area, in the heart of one of the most picturesque neighbourhoods of Amsterdam.
"De Pijp" is famous for all the nice bars and little restaurants. In the 19th century "De Pijp" was built to ease the overpopulated neighbouring areas. With reference to early settlers including Piet Mondriaan ( who lived and worked in three different houses in "De Pijp" ) and students in search of a cheap place to live "De Pijp" became a lively bohemian district known as the "Quartier Latin" of Amsterdam. Today it still is a melting pot of cultures and nationalities.
One of the centre attractions of "De Pijp" is the Albert Cuypmarket. A visit to Amsterdam is not complete without a trip to this famous market, which has over 300 stalls and 100 shops. It is surrounded by several exotic restaurants and typical Amsterdam Pubs on almost every corner.
A secret for most foreign visitors, but not for the Dutch, is that "De Pijp" is the birthplace of one of the most beloved singers of Holland... Andre Hazes. A statue of him can be found a few hundred yards from our shop.
We are located in the middle of this vibrant area, very close to the famous daymarket Albert Cuyp and the Heineken Experience.
And downtown Amsterdam? Only fifteen minutes away by bike you will find the famous Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and other museums of Amsterdam, the Vondelpark, the canals and shopping areas where you can buy authentic Dutch souvenirs.
